At the ceremony, Sonadezi CEO Tran Thanh Hai said: “Currently, Dong Nai and the whole country in general have basically recovered socio-economically, but the impacts of Covid can still be seen and felt, especially when we talk about children orphaned by the pandemic. In order to help ease the pain and create a fulcrum for such orphans first in poor localities in the province, Sonadezi have decided to call on managers to lend a helping hand .
Sonadezi and its subsidiaries donate money to support Covid-orphaned children
Dinh Quan is a mountainous agricultural district and the poorest one of Dong Nai province. Its average income per capita is merely VND 66 million per year, only about 55% of the whole province’s average. Currently, Dinh Quan’s limited social security resources are not enough to cover and take care of all intended subjects.
In addition, most children in mountainous districts like Dinh Quan, even if they have both parents, are already experiencing less favorable living conditions than those in urban and plain areas For children who lose one or both of their parents, life is far harder.
“Through the program, Sonadezi wishes to contribute to creating more conditions for children orphaned by the Covid to study, grow up firmly and contribute resources to jointly overcoming the consequences of Covid. At the same time, Sonadezi hopes that local authorities and mass organizations will pay special attention to and take care of the children mentally as well as provide advice and guidance on self-protection skills and ensure safety and stability for the children in a family and community environment,” said Mr. Tran Thanh Hai.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Ba Dat – Secretary of Dinh Quan District Party Committee said that during the recent outbreak of Covid, Dinh Quan was a heavily affected locality. The district has 60 deaths and 12 children orphaned by the disease. During the pandemic as well as the post-Covid-19 economic recovery, Dinh Quan has received enthusiastic support from organizations and businesses including Sonadezi. The support of Sonadezi in general and managers and leaders of the Corporation and its subsidiaries for Covid-orphaned children is a valuable resource that contributes to Dinh Quan’s efforts to help them overcome physical and mental challenges.
