Quang Trung waste treatment complex enhances the application of new technologies

On August 5, leaders of agencies, representatives of parishes and people of Thong Nhat district (Dong Nai) came to visit domestic waste treatment activities in Quang Trung Waste Treatment Complex.


This is a periodic activity carried out twice a year by Sonadezi Service JSC (SDV) – the investor of Quang Trung Waste Treatment Complex for the government and local people to site visit, supervise and give suggestions for project activities.

Leaders and people of Thong Nhat district visited Quang Trung waste treatment complex

Quang Trung waste treatment complex covers an area of 130 hectares, the total investment (adjusted) is over 647 billion VND, currently, the total construction investment value has reached about 340 billion VND. To date, SDV has invested in complete treatment items and infrastructure items, regularly applied new technology, in which, the item of “waste recycling and composting station” was totally imported from Europe. This item has capacity to thoroughly treat domestic waste generated, ensuring the ratio of inert waste buried below 15%, being a friendly equipment, without causing environmental pollution.

The capacity for domestic waste treatment of the waste recycling and composting station up to 1,200 tons day (400 tons/8 hours/2 lines) with a total investment of nearly 200 billion VND and a total factory area of over 31,600 m2. Currently, under the direction of the Provincial People’s Committee and the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Dong Nai Province, SDV is receiving and treating domestic waste in Thong Nhat, Trang Bom, Vinh Cuu, Tan Phu, Long Thanh, Long Khanh city and Bien Hoa city, with a total receiving volume of approx. 800 tons/day.

Delegation visits the compost station

Over 80% of organic waste in the input waste, after being sorted at the Station, are moved to aerobic composting workshops to produce compost, the proportion of inert waste buried under 15%, and the remaining of less than 5% of recyclable waste to be recycled, re-used. For non-recyclable inert wastes, they are buried at hygienic landfill and covered daily with 3-layer LDPE/HDPE/LDPE tarpaulin with HDPE waterproofing membrane on the top. Biological products of Bio-Fix Company (USA) to kill flies and deodorant are sprayed on the surface of buried waste to eliminate arising odors…

With a number of comments from the leaders and locals about limiting the spreading out of odors in the waste treatment process, SDV representative said that many measures have been taken to minimize the odor into the air and surrounding residential areas. In particular, the Company has installed, put into use the odor collection and deodorization system at the receiving – sorting station of compost Station with a total investment capital of 5 billion VND in phase 1. The system has been put into operation since April 20, 2019.

The locals comment on the activities of Quang Trung Waste Treatment Complex

At the meeting, leaders and people of Thong Nhat district highly appreciated the scale, level of investment, modern and methodical treatment technology and process of Quang Trung Waste Treatment Complex and confirmed the odor arising from the waste treatment process of the project remarkably reduced. However, the investor should continue to have solutions to minimize odors and ensure the environment for the surrounding areas.

Priest Pham Duy Liem – Ninh Phat Parish said that in the coming time, the parish will work with local authorities to propagate, guide the locals in classifying wastes by their sources in order to facilitate the waste collection and treatment, limiting negative impacts to the environment.

Agreeing with this view, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Cuong – Vice Chairman of Thong Nhat District People’s Committee affirmed that the district will strengthen propaganda to raise sense of responsibility in waste classification before moving to the Company for treatment. At the same time, the district will request the units that transport waste to Quang Trung Waste Treatment Complex to convert rudimentary garbage transporting vehicles to specialized ones, limiting the spreading out of odors, waste spillage and leachate during transportation.

Mr. Cuong also said that Thong Nhat district sent a written request to the provincial People’s Committee for support the investor to increase the domestic waste treatment capacity to 1,200 tons/day in August 2019 to meet the needs of waste treatment of this area.

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Anh Dung – CEO of Sonadezi Service JSC acknowledged and accepted the comments of local leaders and people. He also committed that in the coming time the Company would do further research and improve the efficiency of domestic waste treatment projects. Currently, the daily waste treatment line of Quang Trung Waste Treatment Complex is designed and installed 100% automatically so it can limit errors during operation.

In the near future, SDV Company aims to research new projects at the Quang Trung Waste Treatment Complex to fullfil the needs of waste incineration, non-polluting to environment and increasing the capacity of energy regeneration and recovery.
