Sonedezi supports poor patients

At the ceremony, Mr. Phan Dinh Tham – CEO of Sonadezi Corporation said that in 2018, Sonadezi Corporation worked towards enhancing the charitable works in terms of quality and reaching out to more people in need. Sonadezi Corporation and its subsidiaries helped many poor patients to cover their medical bills in the hope that it would contribute to increasing humanitarian assistance in the community.   

 “Dong Nai General Hospital is a large-scale hospital that focuses on building professional expertise, advancing facilities and equipment and providing comprehensive care to patients. Sonadezi Corporation, upon adherence to its mission and trust towards Dong Nai General Hospital, on January 15, 2018, entered into an agreement with the hospital on providing financial assistance to patients”, Mr. Phan Dinh Phung said.

The fund that aims to provide financial assistance to the poor patients of Dong Nai General Hospital was put into operation in early 2018. Sonadezi Corporation’s contribution to the first phase of 2018 is VND 500 million. Sonadezi Corporation intends to cover full or partial hospitalization, purchase health insurance for patients who live in poverty, have no personal information that could be traced, suffer from homelessness or have no relatives around. The Department of Social Works of Dong Nai General Hospital is responsible for coordinating, monitoring and reporting the usage of the fund.

According to Dr. Ngo Duc Tuan, second-degree specialist, Director of Dong Nai General Hospital, there are 4,000 medical visits to Hospitals every day of which many people are living in poverty. Dong Nai General Hospital hopes to receive financial assistance from benefactors and sponsors so increase the number of poor patients that can receive the treatment.

“The funds for poor patients was established thanks to the cooperation of Dong Nai General Hospital and Sonadezi Corporation. After 4 months since its inception, the fund has been used effectively, support poor patients financially and reassuring them that their medical bills are already covered. The fund contributes to relieve the burden on the patient’s shoulder”, Mr. Ngo Duc Tuan said.

As of May 28, 2018, thanks to the fund of Sonadezi Corporation, Dong Nai General Hospital’s Social Work Department supported 25 patients who live in poverty, suffer from homelessness and have no identity that could be traced with a total amount of about VND 112,000,000.

According to Mr. Phan Dinh Tham, in the foreseeable future, in order to maintain these well-meaning programs, Sonadezi Corporation would continue its assistance and develop other plans based on the efficiency of the implementation.

“We hope that Dong Nai General Hospital, especially the Department of Social Works will continue to use this fund effectively to support poor patients financially. The verification and disbursement process should be carried out promptly and rapidly. Sonedazi Corporation and Hospital work together to promote the program, its benefits, and targets so there will be more poor patients that come to know about this assistance”, Mr. Phan Dinh Tham emphasized.

Over the past years, Sonadezi and its subsidiaries retain about VND 10 billion per year to carry out charitable activities in a practical manner. Among them, the program “Hearts of gold” has been implemented for 10 consecutive years with more than 250 houses were awarded to poor families.

In the program designed to provide financial assistance to poor patients, Sonadezi Corporation and 5 its subsidiaries that include Sonadezi Long Binh JSC (SZB), Sonadezi Long Thanh JSC (SZL), Sonadezi Services JSC (SDV), Industrial and Urban Development JSC No.2 (D2D) and Dong Nai Water Supply JSC (DNW) contribute the fund together.
