On July 27, General Do Ba Ty presented flowers at Dong Nai Martyrs Cemetery in commemoration of heroic martyrs, visited the collective tomb of martyrs who died in the battle of Bien Hoa airport (Tet Mau Than 1968) and sent gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. On July 28, General Do Ba Ty together with the Delegation had a meeting with Dong Nai province’s leaders on the results of the implementation of grievance mechanisms for community and voters.
FDI in Sonadezi reaches USD 9 billion.
At the meeting with Sonadezi Corporation, General Do Ba Ty and the Delegation listened to the Corporation’s report on operating activities, business difficulties, and recommendations regarding legal policies.
Sonadezi’s leaders said that after 27 years, up to date, Sonadezi Corporation takes lead in the growth of industrial zones and investment attraction in Dong Nai, and adds value to local socio-economic development. Having 12 industrial zones placed in Dong Nai and Ba Ria Vung Tau with a total area of 5.559 hectares, Sonadezi attracts the investment of 642 companies in which 442 foreign companies with a total registered capital of nearly USD 9 billion and 200 domestic companies with a total investment capital of VND 15.000 billion. Sonadezi Corporation pioneers in the industrial zone – urban area complex construction, among them is Chau Duc industrial zone – urban area complex, Long Thanh industrial zone, and Giang Dien industrial zone.
Besides industrial projects, Sonadezi and its subsidiaries invest effectively in numerous residential projects in Bien Hoa city, Long Thanh district, Trang Bom district, etc., thereby contributing to urban concentration and provincial development. Sonadezi also invests and develops in-depth a number of fields such as logistics, environment, construction materials, industrial zone services, water industry, and employee training, etc. Currently, Sonadezi Corporation develops 58 projects with a total investment of VND 28,827 billion and USD 34.619 million, creating jobs for hundreds of thousands of workers.
Ms. Do Thi Thu Hang – Chairwoman of Sonadezi Corporation said: “Besides investment projects, Sonadezi has spent a great number of resources in socially significant projects in Dong Nai province. Sonadezi and its subsidiaries invested thousands of VND billion in transport infrastructure projects such as road 768 and Hoa An bridge; clean water supply system expansion and housing projects according to the resettlement plan of Bien Hoa city, etc.”
Sonadezi contributes greatly to the community and focuses on public order and security
At the meeting with Sonadezi Corporation, members of the Delegation expressed their impression on Sonadezi’s growth and performance. General Do Ba Ty and members of the Delegation asked numerous questions regarding activities of departments and unions; employees living conditions, order and security in industrial zones; land acquisition, site clearance; equitization procedures; charitable activities and difficulties encountered in the operations as well as recommendations of the Corporation.
Ms. Do Thi Thu Hang – Chairwoman of the Board of Directors and Sonadezi Corporation’s Board of Directors answered all the questions raised by General Do Ba Ty and the Delegation. In terms of activities of departments and unions, Sonadezi Corporation currently has 22 party cells and party committees with 986 party members; 17 youth union with 875 youth union members; 26 grassroots trade unions with 4,715 union members; 11 Veterans Association with 162 members.
In terms of order and security, Sonadezi Corporation built a militia of 319 people. Militia stationed in the Corporation annually cooperates with the Bien Hoa Military Headquarter to conduct training, inspection and shooting competitions using real bullets. The militia of subsidiaries coordinates with the militia of the localities to ensure the safety of the areas that subsidiaries are operating. They readily respond to any assigned tasks and play the role of core force in fire prevention programs of the Corporation.
Mr. Phan Dinh Tham – CEO of Sonadezi Corporation said “Thanks to the well-organized militia and their proactive cooperation with the police force in ensuring order and security in industrial zones, the chaos that occurred in May 2014 was handled properly and promptly without any significant damage being reported. There was no rupture of the factory or foreign kidnapping. In each Sonaezi’s industrial zone, local militia cooperates with Sonadezi’s militia and police force to protect the public safety.”
In terms of the equitization procedures, Sonadezi already completed equitization and is preparing required papers for the company being listed on UPCOM. Sonadezi is currently a joint stock company with 99% capital that comes from the state budget. According to 2018 plans, the proportion of state capital will decrease to 65% and 51% by 2020.
In order to provide the Delegation with more information related to the equitization of state-owned companies operating in the province, Mr. Dinh Quoc Thai – Chairman of Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee said “In compliance with Government’s policy, Dong Nai has been equitizing state-owned companies according to schedule. About Sonadezi Corporation, the equitization of the Parent Company just finished in 2016 and that of 20 subsidiaries already finished far before. According to the plan, from now to 2018, all state-owned companies in Dong Nai province will be equitized, except some companies of which businesses related to national defense.”
In terms of employees living conditions and charitable activities, Ms. Do Thi Thu Hang – Chairwoman of Sonadezi Corporation said “Thanks to the operation efficiency of the Corporation and its subsidiaries, the average income of nearly 5.000 employees has been significantly improved. Currently, there are four subsidiaries of Sonadezi Corporate that pay an average salary of VND 20 million/person/month. The lowest average salary is VND 8 million/person/month. Regarding charitable activities, Sonadezi and its subsidiaries annually spend about VND 9 billion to support the implementation of numerous practical programs in the province. Among them is the program “Hearts of Gold” that has been held by Sonadezi Corporation in cooperation with Dong Nai Radio and Television Corporation for 9 consecutive years with a total of nearly 250 houses awarded to poor families. Regarding rural construction financing, in May 2017, Sonadezi sponsored VND 3 billion to build a rural transport system in Song Thao commune, Trang Bom district.”.
“Always study and follow Ho Chi Minh’s ethics”
This is a wish and also a message that General Do Ba Ty sends to Sonadezi Corporation’s employees along with a special gift of Uncle Ho’s painting.
General Do Ba Ty said “In the context that our country’s economy is still facing numerous difficulties and competitive pressure is prevalent, it is impressive that Sonadezi Corporation is able to achieve great development, ensure employees receive a decent income and conduct many social programs. It all thanks to the solidarity among Sonadezi’s employees and management board as well as their team efforts. The order and security in the project areas are well protected, especially in the event of May 2014, Sonadezi Corporation could maintain security and ensures safety for investors’ production operations. On behalf of the Delegation of the National Assembly, I acknowledge and warmly congratulate the results that Sonadezi Corporation has achieved in recent years. In order to maintain the sustainable development, the Corporation is required to have a vision of their future, work hard to keep their brand relevant, expand market share, strengthen linkages and take initiative in international integration. In terms of restructuring strategies, attention should be paid to compliance with the regulations of the State in order to achieve quality and efficiency ”.
General Do Ba Ty also stressed that the achieved results would bring pressure on the Corporation to strive harder if the Corporation does not want to lag behind in the context of competitive market. “In order to improve the development, attention must be paid to building capable human capital, training and reskilling employees to enhance their qualifications. Besides, the Corporation needs to promote its corporate social responsibility as well as actively engage in poverty reduction programs, new-style rural areas construction, gratitude houses building in the province. An extremely important issue that must be noted that is maintaining national defense and security, developing the militia, participating in training and rehearsals. Therefore, the Corporation will be fully prepared to respond to any situations and protect the safety of business activities of the Corporation as well as that of investors.”, General Do Ba Ty said.
At the meeting, General Do Ba Ty and the Delegation also received the comments and recommendations of Sonadezi Corporation on administrative reform and legal policies’ irregularities. The Delegation said that they would pay attention to these issues in the process of drafting and amending laws and would require regulators to resolve the difficulties promptly. Only then, could the companies grow dramatically and contribute to the socio-economic development of the province in a proactive and comprehensive manner.
