Although two-thirds of 2021 were characterized by the devastating and prolonged Covid-19 which has caused numerous difficulties, over 3,200 Sonadezi employees have worked hard and made multiple contributions to the Corporation and community.

During Sonadezi’s meeting for review of 2021 business performance and assignment of targets for 2022, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors Do Thi Thu Hang paid special gratitude to all employees of the Corporation: “On behalf of Sonadezi Corporation, I would like to express my deep gratitude to the leadership team and all employees in the system for their efforts and contributions to the growth results of Sonadezi in 2021.”

Hang said: “During the rampaging Covid, many companies, factories and employees of the Sonadezi system were in the locked-down area and employees also got infected. But in general, Sonadezi’s production and business activities were still maintained. During many months of “3 on-site’s”, many Sonadezi employees sacrificed their simple joy of spending time with their families, volunteering to stay at the company to ensure the mission chain was not interrupted. Many of them did not their families for 3 months… But in return, after “3 on-site’s”, their affinity to the workplace grew deeper than ever.

Overcome difficulties during Covid to ensure the supply of essential services and products

About 50% of Sonadezi’s over 3,200 employees are currently working at entities providing products and services such as: ports, environment services, and water supply. In 2021, especially during Covid, the stressful situation and prolonged social distancing placed great pressure on Sonadezi subsidiaries operating in these fields. The Sonadezi management acknowledged: “ We had a tough situation where Covid control had to be done in parallel with the supply of essential products and services such as handling of imports and exports, collection, transportation and treatment of waste, supply of clean water, and so on. No one is more directly involved with this mission than the staff of environment service, port and water supply companies in the past several months”.

By adopting flexible solutions including the prompt introduction of “3 on-site’s” for thousands of employees to ensure sufficient human resources for operations and the careful preparation of plans to respond to all pandemic levels as well as thanks to the best efforts of each employee in the face of difficulties and risks of infection, Dong Nai Port Joint Stock Company (PDN), Sonadezi Service Joint Stock Company (SDV), Sonadezi Environment Joint Stock Company ( SZE) and Dong Nai Water Supply Joint Stock Company (DNW) have successfully completed theirs task as the frontline force in providing essential products and services during social distancing.

Specifically, PDN has always provided a full range of port services, met the shipping schedule of domestic and foreign shippers and shipped lines, thereby helping ensure the continuity of the supply chain for customers in industrial parks. With an estimated total handling volume of 6.75 million tons in the year and an estimated 840 thousand TEUs of container cargo (a growth of about 2% against 2020), PDN has actively contributed to import and export activities in Dong Nai in 2021.

At SDV and SZE, although the majority of employees directly performed the collection, transport and treatment of waste, including medical waste in concentrated quarantine and locked-down areas with a very high risk of infection, appropriate solutions, especially the increase of specialized protective equipment, were adopted to maintain operations. Thanks to this, the two entities has properly treated over 90% of the total domestic waste in the province with a total capacity of 1,650 tons per day, thus contributing to environmental protection.

For DNW, the most difficult period was when many of the Company’s water plants under lock-down and many workers could not go to work because they reside in medical quarantine areas. Despite these challenges, Dowaco has striven to maintain the production pace, ensuring the supply of more than 450,000 m3/day for millions of residents, production and business establishments and most industrial parks in Dong Nai province. They also ensured adequate water supply for hospitals, Covid patient treatment areas and concentrated quarantine areas.

At a meeting for review of 2021 business performance and assignment of targets for 2022, Mr. Vo Tan Duc – Vice Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee and Mrs. Do Thi Thu Hang – Chairman of Sonadezi Board of Directors presented prizes to 04 groups of representatives of Sonadezi’s shar capital in Sonadezi Chau Duc Joint Stock Company, Sonadezi Long Thanh Joint Stock Company, Dong Nai Port Joint Stock Company, and Dong Nai Water Supply Joint Stock Company.
