On January 7, Sonadezi held a workshop on 2020 annual review and 2021 business planning. Leaders of Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee and representatives of line departments attended and delivered keynote speeches.
As reported at the workshop, the Covid -19 pandemic hit almost all areas of Sonadezi’s operations. Yet, with flexible management solutions and concerted efforts of all employees, Sonadezi and its subsidiaries completed and outperformed their annual business plan. Most of Sonadezi’s subsidiaries and affiliated companies were performing effectively.

Sonadezi generated more than VND 4,766 billion in total revenue and over VND 1,054 billion in profit after while its tax payable was estimated at VND 578 billion and its return on equity was around 14.72%. Sonadezi’s actual revenue was 4% higher than budgeted; yet, its profit after tax, return on equity and tax payable were respectively over 15%, nearly 12% and 25% higher than planned. This indicates Sonadezi’s strong performance and growth in 2020.
Sonadezi’s total assets have now reached more than VND 19,380 billion, growing 6% year-on-year, and its owner’s equity reached more than VND 8,150 billion, up 7% over the same period.
Regarding its performance in 2020, as noted by Mr. Phan Dinh Tham – Sonadezi’s CEO, in addition to 10 existing IPs in Dong Nai and Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Sonadezi has started to build the 300-ha Tan Duc Industrial Park in Tan Duc commune, Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan province. In June 2020, Sonadezi Binh Thuan Joint Stock Company with charter capital of VND 400 billion was established to deliver this project.

Sonadezi and its subsidiaries have been investing in 11 industrial parks covering a total area of about 4,578 ha. In 2020, Sonadezi’s industrial parks attracted 33 investment projects, including 21 FDI projects and 12 DDI projects with a total registered investment of over USD 403 million and nearly VND 2,183 billion (a 22% and 116% year-on-year growth in FDI and DDI capital respectively).
So far, Sonadezi’s industrial parks have accommodate 836 projects (including 604 FDI projects and 232 DDI projects) with a total registered capital of more than USD 10.4 billion and VND 18,729 billion respectively.
Also in 2020, Sonadezi further implemented projects of social significance such as completed construction of Quang Trung waste treatment plant, or the 21.7ha domestic and industrial solid waste treatment complex (Vinh Tan commune, Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province). A compost factory with processing capacity of 450 tons/day was completed as part of the 21.7ha domestic and industrial solid waste treatment complex to facilitate waste treatment in Long Khanh town, Thong Nhat district, Tan Phu district, Vinh Cuu district, Trang Bom district and Bien Hoa City.
On its business performance in 2020, Ms. Do Thi Thu Hang – Sonadezi’s BOD Chairwoman shared that: “In 2020, being able to stick to the original plan was a success to Sonadezi. Therefore, a positive growth rate, small though, is quite encouraging and valuable to us. Of note, despite numerous challenges, Sonadezi increased its contributions to address community and social concerns, equivalent to over VND 16 billion in 2020, 1.6 times higher than the annual average in previous years”.

At the workshop, following the presentation by Sonadezi’s CEO on its business performance, Ms. Dang Thi Kim Tham – Deputy Director of Dong Nai Department of Finance congratulated and highly spoke of Sonadezi’s efforts and performance in 2020. Specifically, Sonadezi increased its investment in new industrial parks and managed to complete construction of 02 waste treatment plants in the province while still working on divestment of state capital as guided by the Prime Minister and Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee. “2021 will be another challenging year due to complicated developments of Covid-19, yet, we hope that Sonadezi will further manage to overcome such difficulties and outperform its business targets and divestment of state capital as planned”, emphasized Ms. Dang Thi Kim Tham.

For 2021, Sonadezi expects to generate VND 4,770 billion in consolidated revenue and VND 1,011 billion in profit after while its tax payable will be around VND 556 billion and its return on equity will be about 13.73%.
