On December 30, Sonadezi Corporation visited and announced its offer to cover the entire hospital bill of nearly VND 52 million for a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patient at Dong Nai General Hospital.
This patient was transferred from a district hospital to Dong Nai General Hospital with difficulty breathing, intubation and ventilatory support. The elderly patient was diagnosed with respiratory failure due to acute COPD exacerbation and left pleural effusion. A chest drain procedure was performed, followed by intensive care, to save the life of the patient who is now recovering. Without any family members around, the patient’s hospital bill has been fully covered.

This is one of 413 patients who have received support from its pro-poor medical expense assistance program delivered by Sonadezi Corporation and its subsidiaries in collaboration with Dong Nai General Hospital since 2018. After four years, Sonadezi and its subsidiaries have sponsored VND four billion in total to cover hospital treatment of homeless and poor patients.
Mr. Pham Tran Hoa Hiep – Head of Sonadezi’s General Affairs Division visited and presented its medical expense assistance to a patient treated at the Thoracic Surgery Department of Dong Nai General Hospital.
In 2022, despite countless business challenges, Sonadezi Corporation and its subsidiaries maintained its pro-poor medical expense assistance program, in addition to other community service programs with lots of practical benefits to the beneficiaries. In total, Sonadezi and its subsidiaries allocated VND 6.8 billion for social work in 2022.
Among others, key activities included presentation of scholarships to low-income and high-performing students; supports to poor households affected by Covid-19; presentation of Tet gifts to disadvantaged families and policy beneficiaries; donations to the Fund for Agent Orange Victims and the Fund for the Poor; and financial support to gratitude-showing activities, including building houses of Great Solidarity.

Sonadezi Service Joint Stock Company maintains its annual presentation of Tet gifts and supports to policy beneficiaries and poor families
Also in 2022, Sonadezi coordinated with the Fatherland Front Committee of Dinh Quan district launching a support program for 12 local orphans who lost their parents during Covid-19, using donations from Sonadezi managers. These children will be receiving monthly stipend from Sonadezi until they turn 18. The program will be implemented for 16 years, from January 2022 to August 2037 with a total budget of over VND 2.5 billion. The budget disbursed in 2022 was more than VND 330 million.

As noted by Sonadezi leaders, as part of its community service activities and in order to improve social security of beneficiaries, Sonadezi and its subsidiaries have coordinated available resources and implemented such activities with clear targeting and a long term vision to jointly bring more value to the community. The first program widely implemented at Sonadezi was “Thousands of Golden Hearts”. This program was delivered for 10 consecutive years (from 2008 to 2018) to build more than 250 charity houses for poor and disadvantaged households in Dong Nai province.
“In 2023, while further delivering on its long-term commitments such as pro-poor medical expense assistance and support to orphans whose lost their parents during Covid-19 in Dinh Quan district, Sonadezi will sponsor learning encouragement activities, construction of schooling facilities in mountainous and remote areas and other programs in Dong Nai, Ba Ria – Vung Tau or Binh Thuan, etc.”, said a Sonadezi leader.
