In 1990, the Taiwanese Tam Anh Company had a scoping mission to Dong Nai. This was the first partner of Dai Dong Company (a Sonadezi’s predecessor).
Its mission included Mr. Duong Van Cuong – General Director, Mr. Diep Duc Uyen – Deputy General Director, Mr. Nguy Dinh Nguyen – Trade Manager and Mr. Chu Tung Lam – Architect. The mission introduced its formation and development of export processing zones in Taiwan. Among these, the earliest and most successful was the Kaohsiung Export Processing Zone. Following the success of Kaohsiung EPZ, the Taiwanese Government continued to build its second export processing zone, Nan Zi. These models were very suitable for Vietnam at the time of its border opening.
According to the leaders of Tam Anh Company, in the early stages of establishing export processing zones in Taiwan, factors such as abundant and cheap labor, etc. created a significant competitive advantage for Taiwanese manufacturing. In addition, with a closed-loop management model, each export processing zone was like a miniature of a country, with enough management institutions such as customs, banks, technical infrastructure management, security teams. Therefore, developing an export processing zone that could be conveniently and efficiently operated and reduced business hassle in the export processing zone… was an important task for planners and architects.
As a veteran in the field of architecture in Taiwan, Mr. Chu Tung Lam of Tam Anh Company actively engaged in technical discussions and supported Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung as the architect of Dai Dong Company to get used to various types of master plans, factory buildings in industrial parks as well as other modern industrial works. In addition, site visits and observations at home and abroad arranged by the Company provided useful knowledge for Mr. Nguyen Manh Dung to be able to directly design or co-design, with other partners, hundreds of projects in and out of the industrial park. Mr. Chu Tung Lam brought a wind of change in terms of modern architectural styles to Sonadezi in its early days of development.
Its successful linkage with Tam Anh Company was the first step for the Company to accumulate experience in working with foreign partners, laying the foundation for Sonadezi’s successes in developing industrial park models and attracting investment.
