After 3 months of urgent development, on November 24, the composting waste treatment plant at the 21.7ha domestic and industrial solid waste treatment complex (Vinh Tan commune, Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province) has been launched for trial operation.
Previously, on August 19, Sonadezi Environment Joint Stock Company as the developer officially started the construction of a composting waste treatment plant (Composting plant) with a capacity of 450 tons/day (8 hours/day). To speed up the progress and launch the plant into full-scale operation in Q4/2020, SZE worked day and night to deliver on the set schedule. This contributes to Dong Nai provincial efforts in reducing the landfill rate of domestic waste to less than 15% by the end of 2020 according to Resolution No. 14/NQ-TU in 2020 of the Provincial Party Committee.
SZE’s composting plant has been launched for trial operation
According to Mr. Tran Anh Dung – General Director of Sonadezi Environment Joint Stock Company, its plant construction and installation of imported equipment have been basically completed, with some final items being deployed. The project will complete all construction items and is officially launched in December 2020.
Its completion in a short time is a great effort of the developer, especially given that it was difficult in engaging foreign experts to come to Vietnam and support its delivery, and in importing equipment due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. When the composting plant is officially put into operation, SZE’s domestic and industrial solid waste treatment complex will handle 450 tons of waste/day for composting, ensuring that the rate of inert waste for landfill is below 15%.
Workers were operating 2 waste sorting lines
SZE’s composting plant applies modern Belgian treatment technology, and all equipment and machinery are imported from Europe. The plant’s operation process includes 4 main phases: waste sorting – aerobic composting – maturation – compost refining. The plant is 7.1 ha in coverage, with a total investment of more than VND 220 billion.
Waste composting workshop at the plant
According to Dong Nai Department of Natural Resources and Environment, by the end of September 2020, the volume of domestic solid waste generated locally was 1,833 tons/day and the landfill rate was 29%, far from meeting the target of less than 15% of the Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee. Therefore, in December 2020, when the composting plant at SZE’s domestic and industrial solid waste treatment complex is officially put into operation, it will help fulfil the provincial target on landfill rate as set in the Resolution of the Provincial Party Committee. Dong Nai will then become a pioneering province in the country in environmental protection by treating waste through composting.
SZE’s composting plant will be officially launched in December 2020
This is also an important project for SZE, marking an improvement in its waste treatment capacity and creating a foundation for its sustainable development. In the near future, SZE’s domestic and industrial solid waste treatment complex can increase its capacity to 700 tons/day in order to share the task with the Quang Trung Waste Treatment Plant (Thong Nhat district) and keep the waste landfill rate below 15% as targeted by the province.
